Hi! My name is Georgia Bass, I am 16 years old and currently a sophomore at Notre Dame High School. I have been horseback riding since I was six years old, and have been infatuated with horses for as long as I can remember. My aunt runs an Arabian horse breeding farm and some of my best memories growing up took place there, spending time with both my family and the horses. I’m a multiple honors student, active member of both the Equestrian Team and Environmental Club, and very interested in my photography, the elective I’ve been avid about since seventh grade. Outside of school and riding, I spend time with my friends, make meals for the Interfaith Food Pantry – an organization that provides food to unhoused or low in-come families – and visit new places in my city. I began working with this food pantry over this past summer and have really enjoyed seeing the work I put in make a difference in my community.
In my freshman year I earned a 3.85 GPA and am now taking four honors classes in addition to my regular school load. I started showing at around 8 years old and am so lucky to be able to compete at various show venues and gain more and more experience with each round in the show ring. I’ve been taking top placings in the 3’3”- 3’6” equitation for almost two years, as well as jumping at opportunities to catch ride in other divisions/heights when I’m able to. My most recent accomplishments are:
- Ronnie Mutch Equitation Championship 3’3” – 5th Place
- CPHA Foundation 21u Medal Final 3’3” – 3rd Place
- CPHA Junior Medal Final 3’6” – 8th Place
- Hamel Foundation NHS Regional Championships – 3rd Place (catch-ride)
- CPHA Style of Riding Jumper Championship Final – South – 9th Place (catch-ride)
Having the opportunity to ride at the collegiate level would confirm all of the time and effort I have put into my equestrian career, while balancing my student life. I am very passionate about ultimately finding the school that best suits me and having the opportunity to ride for an NCAA Division I Equestrian Team, a goal of mine for many years now. I’m truly blessed by the equestrian sport because of the way it has matured me, taught me patience, working with others, and how much hard work can pay off. I cannot wait to commit myself to my future team!
